Steven Williams

Steven Williams, Owner and Head Instructor of SW Security Training LLC, brings over 19 years of diverse experience in the public safety industry. A state-certified instructor through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST), Steven is licensed to teach Unarmed Security, Armed Security, and Alarm Monitor curriculums across Oregon. His instructional approach is rooted in real-world experience, having worked as an armed patrol officer in California, a hospital security professional with a focus on mental health crisis response, a Court Bailiff, and an operations manager for a funeral escort and coach service in Portland.

 

Throughout his career, Steven has demonstrated leadership and a commitment to professional development. He currently serves as a Lead Customer Safety Supervisor, managing enforcement teams, developing training programs, and collaborating with local law enforcement and transit police to ensure system-wide safety.

 

He has also taught advanced officer training courses including Driver Safety, Criminal & Civil Liability, and De-escalation Tactics.

Steven holds multiple certifications, including Mental Health First Aid, PMAB, FEMA Incident Command, ASP Baton, Handcuffing and Tactical flashlight and the DPSST Instructor Development certification. He is deeply experienced in verbal judo, conflict de-escalation, firearms safety, emergency vehicle operations, and detailed report writing.

 

As an instructor, Steven is known for delivering top-tier training that blends technical knowledge with real-world application. His mission is to educate and empower students by providing dynamic instruction that prepares them for today’s public safety challenges—whether they’re entering the security field for the first time or advancing in their careers. He is proud to be more than a one-day instructor; he is a long-term mentor and advocate for excellence in safety and service.
